Q1: Please talk about your background

A: I came to the US in 2000 and have been in Maryland for more than 20 years. I finished my PhD degree in Astrophysics, then I became a software engineer by profession and a farmer/gardener in my spare time. I am a mother of two boys.

As an immigrant and a naturalized citizen who loves this country and the great state of Maryland, and cherish the opportunity here, I believe it is my obligation to repay this country with all I can, to make our country, our state, and our home better.

I started to be involved in politics in 2017, fighting those misguided policies and political indoctrination in our school system, and I didn't given up. I participated in the protest against the sanctuary bills in Howard County and the state. Many of us may feel in the same way, our state and our county are not heading in the right direction. I truly feel that it is my obligation to participate in the right process to help steer our beloved Maryland and the counties I will represent in the right direction. I believe my entire life experience has prepared me for this moment.

As a scientist by training and a Christian by choice, I love what Einstein said: "I want to know God's thoughts”. For more than 20 years, I have been working in the technology, trying to us scientific methods to find out God’s thought, or the Laws of the Universe. Laws make the world run smoothly. For our universe and planets, chaos will cause disasters. There are laws for our society too, I feel like our current political situation is chaotic, we need to apply a fact-based scientific approach to address many of those issues we are facing today and put aside ideologies.

Q2: Why are you running for State Delegate?

A: In short, the current situation of our state and our counties are not in a right direction, we can even say they are  in a dangerous trajectory, as the cultural and ideological warfare brought upon us by the left wing of the Democratic Party are tearing apart our community. We are seeing the damage done to our education, public safety, and our economy (refer to Q3 for more details).

In some way, we are lucky to have a Republican Governor today, no matter whether you are satisfied or not. But even Hogan has been overruled by a super-majority of the Democratic Party on many policy issues. (Examples: Maryland passed a Sanctuary Bill and Kirwan Blueprint despite Hogan’s veto.) As a private citizen, I feel I can no longer sit back without doing anything. The 2022 election is an opportunity for us to set many things in the right direction.

The theme of my campaign is Restoring Community.  (Refer to Q3 for more details.)

Q3: What do you mean by restoring a sense of community in the post Covid/Pandemic era? How do you restore a sense of community?

A: Our community has been torn apart by the Cultural or Ideological Warfare brought upon us by the extremist left wing of the Democratic Party. COVID further exacerbated the situation.

First, the quality of the education of our children has been on a downward trajectory. Instead of focusing on improving the educational standards, the school systems have been focusing on the indoctrination of our children with controversial left-wing ideologies. Instead of focusing on realistic measures to close the performance gap among students, the school systems have been focusing on lowering our educational standards in the name of equity and even on politically driven school redistricting that brings down the cohesiveness of our community.  It should be noted that in the 2019 Howard County school redistricting, all Democratic General Assembly representatives of Howard County supported the school redistricting and even passed a bill to mandate school redistricting against the wills of thousands of parents and students who testified against such redistricting. Furthermore, our schools had been closed for too long during Covid, hurting a generation of our children.

Second, public safety has become a real concern to ordinary citizens. We have seen with our own eyes the rise of crime rates in our community and neighborhood. Just recently, gunshots were fired in the street and shopping center under daylight and innocent people were injured in Columbia. In our community, thieves just stole our neighbor's car, (finally it has  been found by the insurance company and the car factory), which was considered one of the safest cities in the country. The extreme left-wing of the Democratic Party has been soft on law enforcement and is taking away the support for our police. A recent example was the controversial actions taken to remove SROs from our public schools, endangering the safety of our children in pursuit of a politically charged idea of defunding police.

Third, our local economy has suffered significantly during Covid. Unemployment rates remained high, and our small businesses were particularly damaged by the Covid shutdowns. On the other side, taxes are on the rise. The implementation of Kirwan Blueprint will most likely further increase the tax burdens on our small business and households. People and small businesses are leaving Maryland.

Therefore, what I meant by restoring a sense of community is simply restoring common sense in our community, restoring common sense for our life, our family, our values, our liberty and prosperity.

I believe that community thrives when all of the following key elements are in place: safe schools that are focused on academic excellence, safe neighborhoods that are under law and Justice, good jobs that award hardworking and merits, and thriving local businesses that promote economic growth leading to better public services. Above, we have a healthy belief in life, and respect others’ belief.

I pledge to build comprehensive community initiatives by engaging with residents, communicating with all stakeholders, leading a coalition of partners, to make our community stronger and safer. The ultimate goal is to stop cultural or ideological warfare and provide all residents with the services and support that they deserve and need to thrive.

Q: Democrats make minorities believe they belong to their party. Can you explain why you are running as a Republican?

A: In short, the current situation of our state and our counties are not in the right direction. We can even say they are on a dangerous trajectory, as the cultural and ideological warfare brought upon us by the extremists  of the Democratic Party is tearing apart our community. We are seeing the damage done to our education, public safety, and our economy.

Q: Tell us the Republican Value that are aligned with your belief:

A: The Republican Party has always stood for freedom, prosperity, and opportunity. The principles of the Republican Party recognize the God-given liberties while promoting opportunity for every American, with the principle that your freedom has no harm to others.

I came to this country to pursue higher education, and to build a life that I can call my own so that I can let my children grow up in a free-thinking environment. For many of us, Freedom is so precious that we cannot afford to lose it.

Freedom of choice is an important platform for my campaign. We the people are losing our freedom day by day due to government mandates and policies designed to tell us how to live.

Q4: Please talk about freedom

A: Initially united in 1854 by the promise to abolish slavery, the Republican Party has always stood for freedom, prosperity, and opportunity. The principles of the Republican Party recognize the God-given liberties while promoting opportunity for every American, with the principle that your freedom has no harm to others. (https://gop.com/about-our-party/)

Freedom of choice is an important platform for my campaign. We the people are losing our freedom day by day due to government programs and policies designed to tell us how to live.

For Marylanders in 2022, as we enter into the post-pandemic era, we continue to see mandates and even proposals that tell us how to interact and enforce vaccine policy in public. When it comes to education, parents are losing the right to educate their children. In Howard county, we see at least two major problems with the public school system. First,  school districts change frequently, adding enormous uncertainty to our children's education environment. Second, over the past few years,  we've also seen political ideologies slip into public school education, and we as parents don't really have a say in making a difference. We are losing our freedom of choice.

I came to this country to pursue higher education, and to build a life that I can call my own so that I can let my children grow up in a free-thinking environment. For many of us, Freedom is so precious that we cannot afford to lose it.

So, since 2017, I have been fighting misguided policies and getting involved in politics  to protect our homeland and encourage more people to speak up lest we go astray.

Vote for me and support my campaign! I will defend our freedom to choose and restore balanced governance to make sure the government is by the people, for the people, and future policies in all areas cannot impose decisions and choices on people.

Q:Why/how are you concerned with current public-school education? Or how can we restore excellence in education?

A: It’s never too much to emphasize the importance of education! Our next generation is the future of our nation.

As a candidate, I advocate for maintaining politics outside of schools, maintaining educational standards, opposing political  indoctrination, supporting parental voices, opposing radical school redistricting, etc.

• Restore excellence and common sense in education:

  • Empower parents' voices - instead of indoctrinating our children with controversial left-wing ideologies, the school systems should focus on improving academic quality and closing achievement gaps, and let parents teach values to their children.

  • Restore high academic expectations and proper evaluations to improve students school performance

  • Invest more resources in areas most needed to get every student college OR career ready

  • Provide incentives for good teachers and improve accountability of our school education systems

  • Consider providing school-choice programs, from public school, charter school, private school to homeschool. Provide parents with school education choices for competition and excellence in education, and provide children opportunities to receive quality education

• What should not be part of excellence in education?:

  • Porn materials found in our public schools’ library to teach controversial and LGBTQ explicit materials to our children.

  • For school sexually explicit books, we have state laws that protect our minority. Parents have rights to protect our children.

  • Support state laws to forbid those Critical Race Theory or other racial essentialism and radical gender ideology in public school curricula and remove those political agenda from the classroom.

  • A recent example was the controversial actions the democrats took to remove SROs from our public schools, endangering the safety of our children in pursuit of a politically charged idea of defunding police.

  • School districts change frequently, adding enormous uncertainty to our children's educational environment. BOE's mission is not to save some children, but to save every child. BOE should have the right principle, such as "neighborhood schools", and the details should be done by experts cited by the superintendent. When the principle is wrong, and the whole thing is wrong, even walkers are not walkers any more. BOE should adhere to the right principles for everyone

Q: How can we improve public safety

A: Public safety has become a real concern to all citizens. We have seen with our own eyes the rise of crime rates in our community and neighborhood.

Here is the data for Howard County Homicides:

2018 -- 1

2019 -- 8

2020 -- 7

2021 -- 11

Just recently, gunshots were fired in the street and shopping center under daylight and innocent people were injured in Columbia. In our community, thieves just stole our neighbor's car, (finally it has been found by the insurance company and the car factory), which was considered one of the safest cities in the country. The extreme left-wing of the Democratic Party has been soft on law enforcement and is taking away the support for our police. I will fully support refunding the police.

Q: How can we promote small business?

A: Our local economy has suffered significantly during COVID. If elected, I will pledge to increase taxes.

Q: Can you talk about your view on retiree and veteran taxation?

A: Maryland income taxes are high for retirees. Any income outside exclusions (Social Security 401(k), 403(b) and 457 plans, and public and private pensions), will be heavily taxed. Plus, Maryland's 23 counties and Baltimore City levy their own income taxes. One of those reasons that retirees are leaving Maryland because of the high taxation. We should not continue this trend.

Providing retirees with some form of relief from the high taxes that have chased many of our long-time Marylanders to other, more tax-friendly states, is a key component of any tax relief plan.

Q:As a farmer at heart, can you talk about your thought on Agricultural land use and technologies?

A: We should preserve the agricultural land use and our farming tradition in Maryland. Not only does farming create economic opportunities for communities, but also help to preserve our environment. For example, west Howard or northern Montgomery has the farming tradition. We should keep this tradition and avoid policies that promote excessive housing or commercial developments, particularly at the expense of our environment.

In the meantime, as a delegate, I will help our farmers to find the right way to advance agricultural technology and help them to reach all resources with my support. I have a meet a greet to discuss for the future of farms in central Maryland,

Q: Why Should people  vote for you?

A: I am running to restore a sense of community by simply restoring common sense in our community, restoring common sense for our life, our family, our values, our liberty, and prosperity.
